Staff writer, Theme Park Tourist
November 2017 – Present
Curious about the history behind Gay Days at Walt Disney World? Need upscale dining recommendations for your next adults-only vacation? Ever wondered how many times you can ride Star Tours – The Adventures Continue and experience a brand-new storyline? These are some of the topics I find myself gravitating toward as I research, develop, and write features for Theme Park Tourist every week. Though I love digging deep into theme park history and the multifaceted elements of the Disney Parks, my favorite stories are those that have been long-forgotten… or are yet to be told.
Staff writer, NBC Sports
September 2016 – Present
While on the weekend desk for the MLB-centric HardballTalk blog, I’ve researched and produced news content ranging from the Cubs’ acquisition of Yu Darvish to the Dodgers’ payroll woes and the Red Sox’ 2018 World Series run.
Staff writer, Baseball Prospectus
March 2016 – March 2018
As a contributor for the weekly Rumor Roundup and What You Need to Know columns, I delved into the statistical significance of regular season MLB games, provided commentary on trade rumors, retirement announcements, front office changes, and career-ending injuries, and helped cover the postseason with Division Series, Championship Series, and World Series recaps.
I also contributed to the New York Times’ bestselling Baseball Prospectus Annual from 2017 – 2019 with comprehensive player commentary for over 185 players from the Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, and Toronto Blue Jays’ organizations, respectively. You can find links to my published work here.
Staff writer, SB Nation
May 2015 – August 2016
I examined and analyzed trending topics in Major League Baseball for SB Nation’s MLB daily newsletter, “Say Hey, Baseball.” Anything was fair game here… from the major league debuts of breakout prospects to the time Kris Bryant fronted as a Lyft driver.
Staff writer, Lookout Landing
October 2013 – June 2015
I contributed weekly columns for SB Nation’s Seattle Mariners website, including game recaps, statistical analysis, and historical research.
MLB Gameday Monitor
July 2013 – October 2016
I monitored MLB.TV feeds and managed quality control on pregame, in-game, and postgame channels throughout the regular season and MLB playoffs. Within a network of remote monitors and in-house streaming media assistants and traffic coordinators, I was responsible for reporting user issues, monitoring radio and TV channels for audio and visual errors, and checking archived game footage.
Freelance Writer, USA Today Sports
June 2013 – July 2016
I contributed bi-monthly features to USA Today Sports Weekly. Under the banner of High HeatStats, my work centered exclusively on the marriage of baseball and statistics, ranging from Miguel Cabrera’s legendary wRAA to the myth behind clutch hitting.
Staff Writer, Prospect Insider
March 2013 – September 2013
I contributed weekly columns about the Seattle Mariners, their farm system, and various MLB and MiLB topics. Some feature topics included the development of Mariners’ homegrown catcher Mike Zunino and original research pertaining to ejection rates among major-league umpires.
Senior Seattle Mariners Reporter, Aerys Sports
December 2011 – March 2013
I spearheaded the Seattle Mariners website Needle Ball under the network of Aerys Sports, a sportswriting organization headed entirely by women. Content included player analyses, game recaps, trade news and reactions, and commentary on baseball’s most recent and relevant topics. I also recruited several contributing writers to assist with content production and copyedited all articles and long-form pieces for the site.
Staff Writer, FanSided
October 2011 – March 2013
Which pitchers who bested Barry Bonds? Will Jesus Montero make it big with the Mariners? (Oh, those were the days.) My biweekly articles covered the both best and worst of the Seattle Mariners and the championship-winning ways of the San Francisco Giants.
